Join Sarah Couture during her Semester at Sea

Hi everyone ­ My name is Sarah Couture, a junior at Wheelock College in Boston, Massachusetts. I am a math/science major studying early childhood education and am taking the fall semester away from Wheelock to study at Semester At Sea.

A little about Semester At Sea

It takes place on S.S. Universe Explore with around 640 students from around the world and 50 other passengers that are non-students. While the ship is traveling to each port, students participate in classes and while the ship is docked in port, students are allowed to explore the countries. The ship will be docking in Japan, China, Vietnam, Malaysia, India, Kenya, South Africa, and Brazil. The whole trip takes place over 100 days (Aug 31 ­ Dec 9).

Throughout my trip I will report back the different marine life that I see, how the weather is (we leave Vancouver during typhoon season), some of the things that I will be doing in each country, and different aspects of ship life.
