Reports: 9/1/01 - The high speed ferry out of Bar Harbor reported sighting 6 right whales including a mother & calf pair northwest of Yarmouth, NS. 9/2/01 - The high speed ferry out of Bar Harbor reported sighting 5 adult right whales northwest of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. The tagged, entangled right whale,#1102, is reported in the Great South Channel east of Nantucket and the Boston Traffic Lanes. 9/3/01 - The high speed ferry out of Bar Harbor reported sighting 5 right whales (including a mother & calf pair) northwest of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. The tagged, entangled right whale, #1102, is reported east of Nantucket and west of the Boston Traffic Lanes. 9/4/01 - The high speed ferry out of Bar Harbor reported sighting 7 right whales northwest of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. The tagged, entangled right whale, #1102, is reported in the vicinity of Oceanographer Canyon and southeast of Nantucket. 9/5/01 - The high speed ferry out of Bar Harbor reported sighting 7 right whales northwest of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. A Bar Harbor whale watch vessel sighted 3 right whales southeast of Mt. Desert Island. The tagged, entangled right whale, #1102, is reported in the vicinity of Lydonia Canyon southeast of Nantucket. 9/6/01 - The high speed ferry out of Bar Harbor reported sighting 1 right whale west of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. The tagged, entangled right whale, #1102, is reported in the vicinity of Powell & Munson Canyons southeast of Nantucket. 9/7/01 - The high speed ferry out of Bar Harbor reported sighting 1 right whale northwest of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. 9/12/01 - The high speed ferry out of Bar Harbor reported sighting 3 right whales - 2 northwest of Yarmouth and 1 southeast of Mt. Desert Island. The tagged entangled right whale is reported southeast of the Precautionary Area in the vicinity of Oceanographer Canyon. 9/13/01 - The high speed ferry out of Bar Harbor reported sighting 1 right whale northwest of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. The tagged and entangled right whale is reported southeast of the Precautionary Area in the vicinity of Oceanographer Canyon. 9/14/01 - The high speed ferry out of Bar Harbor reported sighting 5 right whales(including 1 mother & calf pair) northwest of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and 2 right whales southeast of Mt. Desert Island.The tagged and entangled right whale, #1102, is reported south of Lydonia Canyon 9/15/01 - The high speed ferry out of Bar Harbor reported sighting 8 right whales including a mother & calf northwest of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. A whale watch vessel reported sighting a mother and calf pair of right whales west of Jeffreys Ledge & southwest of the Portland Traffic Lanes. 9/16/01 - The high speed ferry out of Bar Harbor reported sighting 9 right whales including 2 mother & calf pairs northwest of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. One group was skim feeding at the surface. 9/17/01 - The high speed ferry out of Bar Harbor reported sighting 6 right whales in feeding and social groups northwest of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. 9/18/01 - The high speed ferry out of Bar Harbor reported sighting 3 right whales- 2 northwest of Yarmouth,Nova Scotia and 1 east of Mt. Desert Island. Telemetry transmissions from entangled right whale #1102 ended on Sunday, Sept. 16. The status of the whale is unknown. 9/19/01 - The high speed ferry out of Bar Harbor reported sighting 4 right whales - 1 northwest of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and 3 east of Mt. Desert Island. 9/20/01 - The high speed ferry out of Bar Harbor reported sighting 4 right whales - 3 northwest of Yarmouth,Nova Scotia and 1 southeast of Mt. Desert Island. 9/30/01 - he high speed ferry out of Bar Harbor reported sighting 5 right whales northwest of Yarmouth,Nova Scotia.
