On 28 February 1997, The CCS, Center for Coastal Studies, ship survey was completed by the RV Shearwater. The RV Orion was dedicated to photo id and tagging. Sightings may include some duplication between the two vessels.

NOTE: The complete NMFS/CG aerial and CCS ship survey tracks are enclosed in this [page] fax for information and reference purposes. Henceforth, a messages will detail the track lines completed that [given] day from the platform(s) providing sighting reports.

CONCENTRATIONS OF ENDANGERED NORTHERN RIGHT WHALES ARE KNOWN TO BE PRESENT IN CAPE COD BAY. SIGHTINGS HAVE BEEN MADE IN THE AREA BOUNDED BY THE FOLLOWING COORDINATES:
